+211 Screamo songs are so hard to understand without looking up the lyrics.. and even then they're hard to understand, amirite?

It depends on the artist to be honest I have absolutely no idea what iwrestledabearonce is going on about

Personally, I don't care about the lyrics most of the time. I just enjoy the general sound of the music.

You enjoy the sound of people screaming at the top of their lungs and claiming they're saying words? If you look up the lyrics to the songs, not only do they sound nothing like what the singer is 'saying', but most of the time they're like "I'M GONNA FUCKING STAB U IN DA THROAT BITCH U BETRAYED ME HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN I SHOOT YOUR HEART OUT BAAAA"

That is an example of a specific type of music called Death Metal, in which the lyrics pertain to death, hence the name. There are many other types and sub-genres of what some people collectively refer to as "screamo". There are plenty of metal artists that make songs just as meaningful as those in any other genre of music. I do look up lyrics every once in a while. I know. I can give examples if you insist on it, but I'd rather not waste my time with a person as ignorant as yourself. Don't be so quick to judge and say ridiculous stereotypes. Just because the singer in a band is screaming/roaring does not automatically mean that the lyrics to said song are related to subjects such as the example you gave. Not at all. You sir, are a disgrace to good music. Don't insult metal.

I'd always thought that death metal was a sub-genre of heavy metal, not of screamo, although I suppose the two can be combined. You seem to assume that my comment was directed at the heavy metal genre, when my target was screamo. I can think of virtually no screamo songs where the lyrics aren't exaggerated angst. I really don't understand why they would be screaming about it if the subjects weren't ridiculously exaggerated angst, as that seems even more ridiculous than the genre already makes it. There is no standard for 'good' music, and I don't think you should be passing off your own tastes as being related to what 'good' music is. It's subjective. Also, insulting other people during your argument does take away from whatever credibility you might have gained. There's really no need for that.

True good music is an opinion. I apologize for the way I used that. And I misunderstood. Screamo isn't a specific genre, so I assumed you were using it as a generalization for all music in which the singer screams. But I believe we have reached an understanding.

Yeah that is typically true, but the more you listen to an artist. The clearer it becomes.

While this is very true, there are genres that are much worse. Grindcore/noisecore is the best example I can give, the lyrics barely exist there.

Too bad Screamo isn't a genre anymore...
