+176 Ok, I realize that living in Canada we are a very diverse country and have done our best to accommodate different faiths, races and languages, but I mean, come on! There has to be a limit, don't try to make us change our anthem because it says God keep our land! amirite?

The US pledge says ".... One nation, under God...." and we don't complain. Wonder why some people in your country are complaining.

People in the US have complained. They got close to taking it out once. ono

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Which is funny because it has only been around for not even 70 years!

Canada's been a country for 143 years actually... We signed the BNA in 1867 and officially became a country, or course many of the provinces were added much later.

No I meant the "One Nation, Under God" has only been in the Pledge for not even 70 years :P

Who's trying to change it?

I think it's silly to say that "under God" or mentioning God at all is offensive to people of other religions. They have a god, and no where does it say that is has to be the Christian God. Unless you're atheist, it's pretty hypocritical.

i'm atheist, and I really don't mind. Didn't they change the line, "And all our sons' command" too? Because I'm a girl and again, don't really mind...

Yes, there was a debate about the all our sons' command, I don't think it's a big deal either, I mean yea, women should have rights butcome on, it's not a big deal!
