Saying Indians are Asian is like saying, Mexicans are American. Amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well technically they're both true, right? India is in Asia, and Mexico is in (the continent of) America...

I didn't say it was wrong OR right, I left that up to the people voting >:]

you're a fucking idiot.
by Anonymous13 years ago
wow your dumb. its the united states OF america. And since mexico is in north america. They are consIdered american. And india is in south asia. So yes they are asian
by Anonymous13 years ago
You just proved my point...?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm Indian but if I say I'm Asian people automatically think Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yes and if a Mexican says s/he's American they automatically think US and not Mexico
by Anonymous13 years ago
Actually, that makes perfect sense, I don't know why so many people voted NW.
Asian refers to people from Asia, and also the Mongoloid race (commonly known as "Asian"). American refers to people from America(the continent), and also the people of USA.
Both statements sound odd because the latter definition of each is the one used most frequently. But technically, they're correct.

because people dont know geography

When people think of Asians, they generally think of Chinese and Korean. India is still in Asia making them Asians. The reason Mexicans aren't considered Amercians is because the country is also called America.

It's the same concept... but if you wanna be technical about it then the technical name for "America" is United States of America.... nobody would get it confused if they said they were from the U.S.
