+536 A person who isn't willing to vote for their leaders, doesn't have the right to complain about them. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about those who have to deal with their screw ups but aren't allowed to vote because the government deems idiot and non-idiot adults to vote for who controls not only them, but us as well?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if the government stopped them from voting they'd still be willing

Who, in their right mind, would let everyone under 18 vote as well? At least people 18 and older have taken government as a class.

Unnecessary comma...

i have to disagree with the constant "Get out and VOTE" compaign. It only encourages more [almost certainly] uninformed people to vote, which doesn't help our democracy at all. I'd rather have 10,000 informed people vote then 10,000,000 apathetic people.

I see what you're saying, don't get me wrong. It's just annoying to me when people complain about stuff, yet won't take any initiative to do anything about it, you know? It's like people who complain about how our environment is in danger and things like that, but they themselves can't seem to do even the simple stuff like recycling.

Honestly, I can understand what you're saying, but honestly, no matter who/what you vote for, the politicians do whatever they want anyway. Just a couple years ago, my state's voters voted for a decrease on a tax (I believe it was property tax) and the next day, the government overturned OUR vote and kept the tax just where it was. I don't want to say anything rude, but it's gonna be hard to say what I'm about to say without coming off as at least a bit rude. I believe that voting is just a way for the government to let us feel like we have some control, when we really don't. The all too common phrase "If you don't vote, you can't complain!" just sounds like a brainwashed people to me. Go to the polls, vote, have the government tell you to hand over your money to fill their own pockets or go to jail. Ahh, democracy!

The U.S government was originally designed to have a powerful local government (so people would have more control and land rights). The federal government was weaker, so much that the founding fathers worried that not many would run for the federal office. But, as time went on, more things became funded by the federal government, such as education, welfare, and research. When companies and people excepted their money, the government now has a say in several things. For the better or worse, they have strong control.

That's the reason I'm third party.

Maybe everyone's just not worth voting for.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe they just don't like any candidates and after the vote they complain that everybody there is an incompetent , which was their opinion from the start.

Those who use commas incorrectly,,,,,,,,don't have, the, right, to use, them.
