I accept people having different views.

I don't assign myself any particular political view, but liberals tend to irk me. They can be so hypocritical, shoving their "acceptance" down peoples' throats. I have a lot of liberal views but would never label myself as such.

I posted this out of frustration, my uncle is extremely liberal and can't accept the fact that I'm not, and that I'm Catholic. -OP

Liberals accept everyone and everything?

I can but when people start attacking me based upon my beliefs then I'm going to fight back.

Not disagreeing, but some views liberals can't accept are views that promote intolerance, such as being anti gay marriage. If the view of the liberal says to accept everyone, he's going to fight against someone who believes in exclusion. The very basis of tolerance is clearing away the people who are intolerant, you know?

It's hard to accept people's views when they are intolerant or wrong. There's a difference between being accepting and being completely pacifistic.

You can disagree with their views but still accept them as a person. What I hate are the people who claim to be open minded and then attack people they disagree with at a personal level, not just attacking the views.

I'm a liberal, and I accept people who are pro-life, anti-gay marriage, etc., until they start personally attacking those who disagree with THEM.

If you're racist, homophobic, o have other detrimental extremist views, then no I won't accept you. Views like that should be beat down until the person realizes what awful things they are promoting. If we continue to "accept" views like that, they will continue to flourish.

Apathy is dangerous. You have to draw the line somewhere. You can not sit by while people hurt and kill others for fer of "judging" them. Something must be done. Legal protections, education, imprisonment. I am very loving and decently tolerant, but it is NOT ok to kill "the gays", not ok to steal women's rights, not ok to condone RAPE. There is a difference between tolerance and resignation/apathy.

I can tell you're targeting this at someone in particular because this can apply to anyone who is not willing to be tolerant, not just liberals. Everone who already commented pretty much stated what I wanted to say, but just know that speaking up for what you believe in doesn't automatically make you intolerant.
