The only time I think this wouldn't be awkward is if if it was an airport. Chances are if they're running towards each other in an airport, they wouldn't have seen each other in a long time.. and it would be sweet seeing their reunion.

I thought it was really sweet in the Time Traveler's Wife. **Spoiler Warning** He didn't know how much time he had left and his wife hadn't seen him in 5 years, so, yeah she better run!
