+694 You hate how a few people of your same religion say something ridiculous about gays, and it reflects back onto every person on that religion. Just because I'm Christian doesn't mean I hate gays. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know right! Why does everyone think Christians hate gays? It's ridiculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't hate gays, but homosexuality is a sin.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't hate black people, but I disagree with being black. (I really don't have a problem with being black, I'm just making a point.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is a difference homosexuality is a choice, and a sij, while being black is determined by your parents. What determines your sexuality, huh?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sin***

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you sure homosexuality is a choice? We all have different likes and dislikes, and we can't really control them. Just becuase brussel sprouts are good for you and you SHOULD like them doesn't mean you do. It might be the same with the gays. What if they can't help it?

There have been some studies that have shown that homosexuality (or just sexuality in general) has a genetic/biological basis to some degree. For example, some experiments have shown that if one twin out of a pair of identical twins is gay, then the other twin has a 50% chance of being gay - much higher than the rate for fraternal twins or regular siblings. There has also been some research that correlates homosexuality with the levels of different sex hormones in the mother's womb while the embryo is developing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Note how none of those can attribute causation. However, with twins-upbringing There is no evidence supporting that last claim. It's a hypothesis.

Ha. I'm gay and I'm Roman Catholic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OXYMORON! YAY!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you a practicing Catholic? O.o

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes and no. I attend church, and I try to live a "moral" life, but I'm aware of the confliction between religion and my lifestyles, and between some aspects of faith and logic. This may be hypocritical, but I try to seperate the actual religion from the politics of the church. Especially thee Vatican. Protecting their name has become more important to them than protecting children. My ex, also a Catholic, had a tattoo in Italian on his back (he wasn't a hipster, he was born in Italy) that said "Only God can judge me." I reckon no living being can put the words of God in their mouth, not me, not priests, not the Pope. And when my time comes, and Saint Peter calls me up, if they tell me that Love is wrong, and that Love is sin, I guess I'm just gonna have to accept my fate.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Amen to that. I wish everyone could think that same way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ha, wow, got heaps of replies. There's always gonna be a debate on this topic. Basically, my two cents is that in the Bible, the themes are still relevant, but the methods have changed. While morals about life, and love, and redemption are universal, some things from 2000 years ago aren't relevant today. Example would be in the original Hebrew beliefs, shellfish was banned due to the risk of disease. In modern society, that risk has been eliminated, but some people still avoid it, possibly due to tradition. And, stupid comparison I know, it's kinda like Shakespeare - the overall themes and underlying meanings of his plays are still around, and probably always will be, but the way those themes are executed has changed in the past few centuries, in regards to speech, setting, etc.

To be honest, the only reason homosexuality is mistaken for a sin is because of Leviticus. Half of those stupid laws were there to help the people survive in the harsh desert environment, and since gay people can't reproduce, they saw that as a survival issue.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To be honest, you know nothing about my Bible. Check out 1 Corinthians, Romans, and Genesis.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You believe everything in the bible right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most things, yeah. Don't bring up Leviticus, though, unless you want a diatribe of how dumb you are.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The good thing about being Christian is all of the rules in Leviticus don't apply to us because Jesus died for our sins so we don't have to worry about sinning.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uh, wrong. They don't apply to us because they were only LAWS and not sins, also, they only applied to the Jews so they could lead a sanctified life. Jesus's death does NOT mean we may sin all we want. It in no way justifies sins.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wait, so you can pick and choose what you want to believe from the Old Testament?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uh no, I'm saying those laws aren't for anyone But the Jews. Am I jewish? No? Those were just a list of laws designed for the Jews. They aren't applicable today, except to the Jews.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You should, hypocrite.

I feel the same way about being a furry.

Unless you're gay, you have no room to call it a choice. People kill themselves because they're gay and don't want to be, but they can't do anything about it. They decide they're better off dead than gay. I know from first hand experience that it's not a choice, so you don't even want to argue this matter with me. Don't even begin to compare homosexuality to sexual perversions either. There's a difference in an uncontrollable fetish and sex as the result of consensual love.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't see how people NW'd this, it's a fact not every christian hates gay people or even thinks it's a sin

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And just because someone's Muslim doesn't mean they want to blow us up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The twin study is very credible. If 50% of identical twins share sexual preferences compared to only 10% of non-twin siblings, that means it must be genetic. But not all identical twins are exactly the same, it just depends on how long it takes the embryo to split. Take my sister and I for example. She is my identical twin, but one of her hands is noticeably bigger than the other. Both of my hands are symmetrical. Does this mean we're not identical twins? No. It means we split early on. The same can happen with the gay gene (or mutation). I should note that I am the gay twin and my sister is known to be physically (not emotionally) attracted to some women.

lol he does that all the time! Didn't you know? And since everything he says is right....lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have to agree with his. i don't care about written word, or what leviticus has to fucking say about it. The one thing my mom has always taught me, and has foucused on throuhought my entire life is that GOD LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS CHILDREN. EVERY ONE. No exceptions. God hates no one. It's that simple.
