+351 If teenagers could vote on gay-marriage, it would be legal, amirite?

Or if amirite could. :P

That's because teens are overly dramatic about gay marriage and say they're gay but don't even know wtf they are yet

The majority of teenagers aren't gay, and yet, the majority of teenagers would most likely vote in favor of gay marriage. So I don't know what your point is.

That has nothing to do with this. We just want marriage to be fair. And don't assume just because were teenagers we're stupid. I'm straight, I've known that all my life. My best friend is gay, he's been gay all his life. Just because we're young doesn't mean we don't know what we are.

No, because we are more understanding of minorities. Most people are for gay-marriage even if they aren't gay.

But yes, too many people say they're gay.

Teenagers of this generation just don't care what other people do as long as it doesn't affect them. I'm being 100% serious. They may not all agree with homosexuality, but they don't really care if they go get married because it doesn't affect them. Also, in reply to F5ive #757832---quite a few teenagers know what they are. Once you hit puberty you are able to realize who you are physically and emotionally attracted to. You don't have to be 20+ to realize whether boobs turn you on or not. It really isn't that hard to figure out =/.

Maybe. I think because a lot more people are openly gay nowadays, and most of us went to school with gay people, and many teenagers have a gay friend. And that's the first step towards acceptance - when a group of people cease to be media stereotypes, and become an actual person that you know and care about, and you start to realise that all the negative stuff you've been told isn't true, and that they're pretty much like you. I think it's a progressive thing. The times they are a-changing.

Well if we go by the standard of 13 being a teenager, we only have to wait 1 - 5 years for our current teenagers to be able to vote (assuming they actually take the time to register which hopefully they do) and this problem will finally be taken care of. It's already taking beyond to long to be resolved so really that isn't much longer.

A lot more teenagers than any other age group support gay marriage, but younger people generally don't vote as often.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think it's a good thing, because there are a lot of things that probably would be legal if this were true that I don't agree with, but I still think it's true.

Once people can marry someone of the same sex, then people are gonna say "oh I love my first cousin, why can't I marry her?" then people are gonna fight to have the right to marry their first cousin. After that, people are gonna want to marry their own siblings, and then thats gonna be legal. Before you know it, ill be able to marry my own cat. Yes, it seems like a stretch, but when people keep on pushing and pushing and pushing, things get out of control. Ok now I'm ready for critisism.

That isn't even close to being the same thing. Children of inbreeding are born with biological disadvantages, though in some cultures marriage between first cousins is still practiced. Marrying a pet would imply victimization, as the animal has absolutely no say in the matter. Gay marriage would have no such consequences, and should therefore never fucking ever be categorized with incest and beastiality.

There must be separation of church and state!.....except when it comes to gay marriage. If a church doesn't want to marry a gay couple, then they shouldn't have to.
