-214 Is it just me, or should kids not be allowed to choose their instruments? Everyone would choose saxophones, drums, trumpets, or flutes. What about us trombones, clarinets, bass clarinets, and tubas? We need love, too, amirite?

Uh, out school has more trombones and clarinets than any other section.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, at the school I went to, the music teacher had to FORCE kids to take trombone, bass clarinet, and stuff like that. But a lot of people I know would switch in a heartbeat, even if they're good at the instrument they play.

What about me? I can play the triangle, and I don't have girls telling me it's sexy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I find that very epic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i play trombone!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We've got an overpopulation of clarinets and piccolos. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about the Euphoniums??? No one loves us. We only have two in our band.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It seems very similar to the tuba... do you like to play?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love the Euphonium, but I started out as a Trumpet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

:) I personally play the trombone.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh lord yes. We have a band of 325 but only 10 euphs, wtf?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Euphoniums for the win. I love it much better than trumpet.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Same with oboes. Nobody cares about them. I was the only one in my school's band.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

With instruments like the oboe, though, most players start on a single reed like a clarinet before they move up to the double reed. It's easier to learn to play a single reed instrument.

There's a shit ton of trombones, trumpets, flutes, and clarinets. Like, literally. Funny enough, there really aren't very many saxophones (which I am).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i play trombone, clarinet, bass clarinet, tuba, trumpet... well all of those.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha you left out euphonium! talk about lovin other instruments

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we have a good amount of every instrument just not a good amount of people in each section that try enough

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are a fuckload of clarinets at my school. And there's really not a big sax section. Half the boys in band play low brass (trombone, baritone, tuba). They get a lot of love.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This posts lacks so much intelligence it's ridiculous.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

...seriously? It's much better to play an obscure instrument because you'll be more likely to be recognized for it, and get into higher ensembles for instrumentation purposes. That being said, my band class alone has like seventeen clarinets, and there are many more in the rest of the school. Everyone plays clarinet. Your logic makes no sense. And there's nothing wrong with picking more common instrument either. They all are capable of making very lovely sounds and if one practices enough on anything, they can go far. Also, most dedicated music students play multiple instruments, and it's never too late to pick up a new one.

Its just you.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, yeah, great idea. Take away people's freedom of choice why don't you. Not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1kApnsayeQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player why wouldnt you want to play the sexophone

by Anonymous 11 years ago

At my school the trombones are one of the biggest sections, and I am a proud member of that section. :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What about us string players? I play violin and viola. Although for a while in middle school I played both clarinet and tenor saxophone.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They pick sax cuz it's the best. Go saxy people!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I pick clarinet because Squidward.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You forgot about french horns.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Percussion anybody?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wow thats real not nice! You left French horns totally out!!!! And I'd like you to know that at my school the instrument you didn't even mention started with 7 members! Of course 4 of them quite after one year, but that's just cuz they sucked. But next time think posts through more clearly and don't forget the French Horn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
