+366 It's really annoying when you say you don't like something , like a band, and someone else says to you "you haven't even listened to them, have you?", amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I definitely agree. Everytime they say that I reply with "You haven't even sat through one hour of Opera, what do you know about not liking it?" And when they reply that they can't take opera music I'll just say the same about said singer/band's voice.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't find it annoying; I just reply that I don't have to listen to much of some things to know they suck. Example: Bieber. I've never heard a single note he's ever sung, and I'm positive I don't want to.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know Justin Bieber sucks if you've never listened to his music?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because I have friends whose opinions I trust that have, and everything I've heard about his music leads me to believe it's nothing I would like. I hate about 90% of pop music, and he is überpop. Oh yeah, and I don't enjoy male vocalists that sound like girls.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know he sounds like a girl though? You can't base your opinions off of someone else's, because then it's not YOUR opinion, it's theirs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What part of "whose opinions I trust" wasn't clear? Over the years, some people I know have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt to have tastes similar enough to mine, and enough common sense, to be absolutely trustworthy in matters of music/movies/TV. Not only that, but the whole sounding like a girl thing is not just something I've heard from friends; it's what I've heard everywhere. Also, I've read the lyrics to some of his songs posted here and there, and they inevitably make me roll my eyes. Hm, what else... oh yeah, pop music almost always sucks(in my opinion). Basically, I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything, and I'm not interested enough in some barely-pubescent boy singing about love to subject myself to it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because you trust your friends' opinions, doesn't mean you have to base yours off theirs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it doesn't mean I *have* to. It means I choose to, obviously.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's stupid basing your opinion off someone else's because it's still not your opinion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It might be "stupid" to do so, if it were some kind of great, life-changing decision. However, since it's just a choice to not listen to some disposable pop music that I probably wouldn't like, you're pretty stupid for making such a big deal about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not making a big deal about it, all I'm saying is that you can't say you dislike something if you haven't listened to it. Yea, it's your choice to not listen to it, but you're in no place to judge it. Also, I never insulted you in any way, so please don't insult me; you don't know me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You said it was stupid to base my opinions off others'; as it is me doing so, calling me stupid is clearly implied. If you don't like that word, perhaps you shouldn't throw it around so carelessly. There's nothing stupid about choosing not to listen to any music; it is pure choice. Also, I've explained my point of view in at least 3 different ways, and you're still trying to tell me it's invalid(even though it isn't)- how is that not making a big deal about it? You're not going to convince me to listen to Bieber, so what was the point of all this?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Black_No_1):I'm not trying to convince you to listen to Justin Bieber because I personally don't love his music, but I can say that because I've listened to it. All I'm trying to say is: if you're going to judge something, make sure you know about it first.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You should really just listen to one song. It'll make your future complaints about him much more legitimate. Plus, you might be actually insane and like him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't have to poke an icepick in my ear to know it would hurt... why would I want to abuse my ears in another way? ;-P Besides, I don't personally know anyone who likes Bieber, so I probably won't have to defend my opinion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's not exactly a good argument... No one sticks an icepick in their ear. Enough people listen to Justin Bieber to make him pretty famous. I'm just saying that your argument of Justin Bieber having a girl's voice is totally invalid until you've listened to him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The ;-P was to indicate I was being facetious about the icepick thing. Also, his girly voice isn't the biggest factor in why I don't wish to listen to him- the aforementioned cliché and lame lyrics I have read myself is a larger concern. I don't want to risk my eyes rolling right out of my head xD

I can't stand Twilight, but in 6th and 7th grade all my friends liked it. They kept saying things like, "OMGZ Mayroooose y dont u like Twilight? You should like totes read it! Edward is sooooo dreamy! Zomg :D" and then I would reply, "Bitches, I've read Twilight, all 4 books, and I hated it. Now I'm going to go party with Batman." *Note: this is a dramatization of what actually happened.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I forced myself through them too; I normally dig vampire stories, and I wanted to know what the hoopla was about. About halfway into the first book I was positive the rest would suck(and I was right), but I kept reading because I had them all borrowed and it was summer so I didn't have much else to do. Having read them all, I can say with absolute certainty that Bella is one of the worst role model for teenage girls I've ever heard of(being a completely empty, pointless shell of a person when she doesn't have a boyfriend), that Edward was a creepy, abusive, melodramatic tard of a boyfriend, and Jacob was a whiny emo pussy in a big buff body. Not the stuff of great literature, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with the Bella part. As much as I like the books, I can't stand the main character. But I don't really get the "Edward is a creep" thing. And how is Jacob emo?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hm, well, let's see... Edward stalks her, watches her sleep, eavesdrops on everyone around her's thoughts to see what she's talking about... how is that not creepy? And all Jacob does, until really close to the end, is whine about how Bella treats him, when she made it clear she didn't like him that way from the beginning, and only quit making a point of it because she was so desperate to have a guy around that she let him delude himself while she was lonely(another point against that stupid twat). He whined about how much his life sucked, all the time, and would go sulk by himself when he didn't get his way. Seems pretty emo to me. Btw, I do understand these are all my opinions, and I'm only defending them this way because you asked me to =)
