+228 Even though it was almost ten years ago, you remember exactly what you were doing on September 11th when you found out about the twin towers, amirite?

Sleeping. It was about 1am where I was.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Probably sleeping like the baby I was.

To the smart-asses above me, the post says when you found out about the Twin Towers, not what you were doing when it happened.

I was like 5 Yrs. Old.

I was 8, didn't know what the twin towers were exactly. But my alarm at 7am was a radio, and I heard 'towers bombed' and I'd never heard of anything so violent - it sounded like the stuff of nightmares. So I went and saw my parents watching the news, and then it was like. IS THIS REAL? Then I went to school, and the teacher had cut out an article and magneted it to the whiteboard, and it all seemed like the most serious thing in the world. Its the first piece of news I totally remember.

I was 4 but I remember that day my friend fell of the trampoline and broke his arm.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was almost four and we watched it happen on tv-- it was the first time I saw my mom cry :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I used to think I saw it happen on my aunt's TV... My mom found out I thought this and she said I wasn't even at my aunt's, so hell if I know.

I was 6. All I remember is that I had to leave school, because our school was near a "potential target".

Obviously this post doesn't apply to you if you weren't even old enough to remember/realize what was happening.

It's one of the only memories I can remember exactly from 2nd grade. We were learning about sentences, it was before ten in the morning, and out guidance counselor came in and told us. We were really young so not many of us understood, but I can remember going home that evening and hearing all the names on the radio. I can also remember watching TV that night with my mom and she was half crying, half yelling/swearing at George Bush. She never swears so that's also stuck in my head forever.

Nervously awaiting a 2nd grade spelling test for which I had not studied. My teacher came running into the room crying and said something about the towers being bombed, which at first didn't really bother me because I was just a kid and didn't really get it yet. But then she turned on the TV and we watched the news in silence for an hour and I thought ".....oh. That's bad."

I remember that I was vacationing with my grandparents when I was a toddler, and I remember that me and my grandma saw it on the news and that I continously tried to change the channel to get a movie I was watching. It's weird how the movie I wanted to watch was about religious tolerance in Egypt (I didn't understand it, of course) and that was the incident that caused all the attacks on my religion.

I was what, 5? Anyways, my mom, great grandpa, my brother and I were going to visit my grandma in Erie, PA by plane. All I can really remember is the plane taking a detour and landing in Philly, and we had to take a cab with the scariest fucking cabbie in the world

Its scary how this day brought America together and a year later, everything was back to normal, if not worse. Was the one year America experienced true Nationalism. I feel terrible that that's what it takes in our country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't remember that, but I do remember that like three days later, it was still on the news (obviously), and I was like "are they seriously still talking about this?". Then my mom told me that they would be talking about it for years. "Yeah right."

I saw it in this magazine..I didn't really understand though..and I was about 5..I live in Australia though so yeah..

wow everyone is so young. i was on my way to school in 7th grade; i was asking my friend if he was looking forward to his vacation when he saud they weren't going cuz all the planes were grounded. had to ask why, and they we turned on the news radio in the car.

I remember I was getting ready for school (I was in 1st grade). My mom ran into my room, turned on the news and then ran out again frantically. I'll forever have the image of two burning towers, in front of an otherwise bright blue sky, with the yellow and orange 'Good Morning America' colors at the bottom, burned into my mind.

i live in nz so we found out at like 10 in the morning i was 6 at the time and i remember my teacher drawing a diagram of what had happened on the whiteboard with her eyes watering, this was the first peice of news i remember and its like it was just yesterday.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was five. They told me next to nothing about it and I was very confused.

We were listening to the radio in class and then there was a fire drill, so we all went outside. It was raining, and when we got back in we were all cold and talkative so we didn't really notice what the radio was saying for a while. But a few minutes after we started listening our principal came in and said we couldn't hear anything else about it and tuned the radio off, so I didn't know what happened until I got home. Looking back, I don't really understand why we weren't allowed to know right then.
