why would a chameleon hide from itself?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's more like the chameleon wouldn't know what color to turn because either way it would be looking at itself, so it can't hide.

doesn't a chameleon use that as a survival instinct

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes...but how will it disguise itself/ hide if there's a mirror any way it turns. It'd keep trying to blend but it'd see itself so it's a cycle.

how will a predator get in?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Chameleons don't have predators. They live in the sea where all that's available is seaweed and plankton. They're actually super hard to find because they blend in with the water. I don't even know how a chameleon would be smart enough to find a few mirrors to get entrapped in.

A blind chameleon will still blend with its surroundings. I don't know how it does it, but it will.

Chameleons actually change colors as an expression of their mood, to communicate with others of their species. Camouflage is a secondary use if not coincidental. If the chameleon was male it would likely turn red, getting angry and territorial from seeing so many challengers.

I think anyone would get confused if you put them in a room full of mirrors. That's why it's called "smoke and mirrors".
