+95 Why do they make us say the pledge of allegiance every day at school? It's not like your pledge to be loyal to your country is undone overnight, amirite?

I sound like an idiot in this post. The point is valid, but the language I used sounds less than sophisticated.

Why are there so many posts about this lately?

Is this normal in the US? I had no idea you needed to do that at school. If you like your country enough you would naturally be loyal to it. Making people repeat it formally every day just seems insecure as if they're worried people will forget that they're supposed to love their country...

Yes, every morning since kindergarten we've said the pledge.

We only said the pledge of allegiance in elementary school. Personally I think we did it because everyone would calm down afterwards for some reason. We would be really loud and then afterwards we'd be quieter. Maybe my school was just weird.
