+67 Nothing should be censored, especially not the radio, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want my kids growing up and seeing people saying the f-word and having sex on TV.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I should have specified, I meant no language should be censored.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. It's awful listening to Pumped up Kicks on the radio, they sensor out a word in like every sentence.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it's perfectly fine if someone wants to listen to a modern rock radio station without having to let their 6 year old hear Fuck or bitch several times.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think curse words shouldn't be, but if they're describing sex in detail in a song, even //I// don't wanna hear that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In a way, censorship is a form of oppression. Although there are things no one really wants to see/hear.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Censorship is pretty stupid. If there's something you don't want to see or hear, avoid it. If there's something you don't want your kids to see or hear, don't allow them to see or hear it. People need to grow thicker skin, as well as learn how to teach their children what is and is not appropriate, instead of letting the Government tell them.

This attitude is what has raised a generation of disrespectful fuckwits. There is a time and place for everything, if you want to listen to a song without censorship, get it on your ipod.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Says the guy who called an entire generation fuckwits.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It was the time and place.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My apologies. *This attitude is what has raised everyone under the age of 20 that I have spoken to for more than two minutes to be disrespectful fuckwits.* It doesn't really work as well.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is a hasty generalization, my friend.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not hasty, nor a generalisation. I've concluded this after several years of constantly dealing with wankers. It doesn't mean I'm a bitch to everyone, just that I don't expect much from anyone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You've been talking to the wrong teenagers. Or, maybe you're just a dick.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm seriously starting to think that you're just butthurt. Every teenager likes to think that they're smarter and more mature than everyone else (myself included), most of them won't admit it though. Truth is, when you bitch about teachers, parents, or just anyone really, you're just like everyone else. Yeah, there probably are people out there who aren't hypocritical wankers, but I've never met them.

I understand that adults have had a lot more life experience then me. They know a lot more than me. Teachers show us an entire new world. They make us think. They guide our way into adulthood. Parents fucking give us life and a fucking place to live. They make us who the fuck we are. There are so many adults that care for kids and get a lot of shit. Then there are people like you. People that just sit around and bitch about what "fuckwits" we are. People that have met a few assholes and just assume that's how all of us are. Just look at yourself buddy. Who the hell are you to be getting so high and mighty. Maybe if you took the fucking time to get to know a teenager, to actually show some respect to one of us, you might get a huge fucking surprise.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I am a teenager, so I have a pretty clear picture of how they behave. I go to school with 1,500 kids who abuse the teachers because 'teachers get paid to take our shit'. My class alone has made 3 teachers retire in the past two years. There's also the little things, like kids having a go at their parents because their parents don't trust them. Their parents don't trust them because they sneak out at night and ditch school. so yeah, sorry that I have a bleak out look on this current generation. You're absolutely right about some adults not giving kids a chance, but a lot of them go well out of their way to help us. I don't think I'm any better than you, I don't know you and in this whole argument, haven't made a single assumption about you. I realise I should have been more clear in my original comment. Basically- If society no longer puts boundaries on certain topics (swearing, sex, insensitive jokes, etc.) than people will think it's okay to behave like this constantly. This generation has been raised on a less censored environment than the last, which is why they are less sensitive to how uncomfortable other people might be with how they behave.

*huff* Okay then.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If these words weren't tabooed in the first place, they would lose all meaning and wouldn't even be bad.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That would suck, when I stub my toe, I wanna scream something vulgar.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe people shouldn't be writing songs about "all dem pussies up in da club, nigga fuck that bitch on a table, weed." Because honestly, it's horrible. Get rid of the songwriters who aren't even talented enought to keep their own sex crazed lives out of songs, you get rid of the need for censorship in these days. I agree that children hearing a swear word or two won't hurt them as long as someone tells them that saying such words is not okay. But hearing the word "fuck" is not that same as the garbage that already plays on the radio today.

our children are weak!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree with @Ambrosia . Zero tolerance towards most things is unrealistic.... but yeah a bit of censorship would be good . Being a completely pro censorship society or being a completely anit consorship society , both are two extremes. The key would be balance. Some stuff being blared on radios and shown on tvs out there definitly needs to be censored and in some cases even taken off air. For sure!
