Based on the choices you make, there will be after-effects (positive or negative.) Therefore, by making choices, you are also choosing the consequences.

Usually, by thinking ahead, you can determine pretty damn accurately what the possible consequences are. E.G. Sleeping around with random one-nighters, consequences include: Bruised conscience, ruined reputation, ruined possibility for serious future relationships (due to reputation), STDs, unwanted pregnancy, rape. It's not that difficult to sit down and thinking "What could happen if I did this?"
