Why is it that when a girl gets a boob job she's a fake, but when someone changes their whole gender it's 'being who the truly are', amirite?

Uhm, because wanting to have your body be the same gender as your brain instead of being trapped in a body completely alien to you is not the same as wanting big tits. I personally don't object to either, if it makes you happy.

Gender is not binary. You do not have to like pink or shopping to want this surgery. A male can enjoy football, beer, and any other activity without being male in a psychological sense. This is similar to how a woman can be mentally female without like shopping or pink. The grand majority of activities and interests are unisex.

They were already that identity. They're just trying to change their physical appearance so that people don't go around calling them the sex they were born with and so that they don't experience the gender dysphoria that comes with not having the sex change. I'll tell you, it sucks not having your gender match what you physically are. It doesn't have the same mental effect as having small tits.

getting a sex change will involve many things. change ur ids, passport pictures, gender on anything u sign up for, explaining to all ur friends, family, etc. u wont have to do all that if u get ur eyebrows done :P

Most people are just lucky to be born the same gender they appear as and think. She might develop opinions or friends that you dislike 4. My bestfriends older sister had one boob that hadn't grown since she was 13. She got a boob job when she turned 18. That doesn't make her fake.

Your not transgendered so you don't understand what it's like what it means and what it feels like. Transgenderism does not hurt society and it does not hurt you there is no logical reason to be against it. The idea of sex changes might make you feel uncomfortable. That's not immoral, it's pretty natural to be uncomfortable with things you don't understand. I read just a small portion of this conversation, but trust me I read enough. You have to realize that just because people were "born that way" doesn't mean that's "who they are." Though it doesn't happen very often it can happen that someone is born with a female mind and male body parts. This person is trapped within a body that isn't theirs, that shouldn't belong to them. When they get it changed it isn't for attention, it's so they can live a happy and healhy life.

Women get boob jobs to feel better about themselves and often to attract men. For example, a man would get transgender operations to feel better about himself and to attract a man (as a woman). What's the difference? He is still a man! You can cut off someone's penis, give them hormones and a dress but he will never have a period, or give birth, or be a women. Period. So I see where this post is coming from. They are both surgeries to change appearance so a person can 'feel' more confident/better as a person.

For most people, boobs=girl. No matter how masculine they look, they assume girl. I have boobs, yet I'm a guy. Is it so wrong to want to be perceived as the guy I am? I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with cosmetic surgery. In the end it's your life, your appearance and (in most cases) your money. As long as you understand the risks and repurcussions, and hopefully you chose to do it for your own peace of mind and not for someone else, go for it. And, to all the Captain Obviouses above me, of course getting cosmetic surgery 'shows their insecurities'. People aren't going to go under the knife to change things that they are perfectly happy with.
