-75 As a teenager, I should be allowed to di my hair and get my ear pierced without my parents getting angry at me, I mean it's not as if I'm doing anything permanent and I'm just trying to discover who I am, amirite?

Do what you want. Fuck your parents. As long as you don't turn intonation pothead whore.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that makes yo parents look badddd kid. seriously though. people think they raised trashy kids. you're not mature enough to make those decisions. wait till you're older.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...since when has having a pierced ear been considered "trashy?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

dying your hair into explosive orange/pink seems trashy...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, piercings will close most of the way eventually. However, if you can't even spell a simple word like "dye" then you're not mature enough to do it to your hair.

Through highschool my hair was green, blue, pink...and my mom did it for me xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here. But way more different colors. people were like "omg, did your mom get mad?" Nd i was always like "nah, she did it for me"

I can see this both ways (hence I didn't vote). You are still under your parents roof and are being supported by them. Hence, they have a say in big decisions you make. they probably oppose ear piercing/hair dying because they are worried it will get you into the "wrong" crowd. Even good kids who look like that, like it or not, are seen by a lot of people as irresponsible or threatening. But that's their problem, not yours

You're not going to discover who you are by doing body modifications or coloring your hair.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can earn your rights once you learn how to spell third grade words. Until then, shut the fuck up and quit worrying about your body.

You want to discover who you are? Here's a tip: read a book. Find a hobby. Get a job. Do some volunteer work. Join a debate club. As I mature I find that life's less about the sappy Disney story of //finding// yourself. It's about building yourself. It's about deciding how you wish to present yourself as a decent and mature person. And if you think, even for a second, that your outward appearance holds more for your potential than actually developing character, then I //absolutely// don't think you're ready to make these decisions. It can take years, //lifetimes// to build a reputation; make sure it's one you'll be proud of.

Uh yes, but I'm going to pretend "di" was just a typo. I have my hair dyed blue (I've had it weird colors since eighth grade, I'm a junior now). It doesn't mean anything. I'm an honors student, I've never done any drugs... I'm still "normal" and "good." It's not indicative of what kind of person you are. It's just how you like to look.

You seem annoying and you're giving kids who do pierce themselves and dye their hair a bad name.... Like they do it to 'express theirr individuality' rather than actually liking the color or piercing.... My hair's dark blue.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you can't correctly spell "dye," then you shouldn't be dying your hair. :/

How many times do people have to comment this for someone to get the message? Cause I understand the first time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*sigh* the discovery of yourself is not hidden in pink hair. but it IS hidden in a 1 inch circumference gage. so go for it. tell me what you find!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

All I can say is if you want to do what you want, then get a job and move out. If your parents do feel strongly against these things, then you should respect it even if you find it unfair.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just do weird shit with my hair and have earrings because I enjoy it and I think it looks pretty good. It doesn't have to be about finding yourself. That doesn't have anything to do with how you look.
