*SAINT NICHOLAS existed, not Santa

They're the same thing. Santa Claus is the German form of Saint Nicholas. English was derived from German so it makes sense if we call him Santa Claus

Yes, but when America adopted the name Santa they implemented the figure we know today. with a red and white suit, chubby, etc. that is completely different, with different rituals than the Saint of the 1600s. Santa is a figure, while St. Nicholas was a person.

Notice that the post does say "Santa Claus" not just "Santa." Besides, in some European countries I think they call him Father Christmas. So maybe he doesn't exist, but Santa Claus does.

But "Claus" comes from the fictional character...?

Oh nevermind, it's not even worth it.

Well technically, everything exists, it's just that some things only exist on our minds. They aren't real, as in they aren't physically in the world, but they're only in our minds.

How stupid can everyone be? Really?! This person asked if Santa as in St. Nick existed at some point. And I want to know the truth! We all know Santa is a fake fictional character but then explain how they came up with the name St. Nick or Santa Claus? Where does the name come from and who came up with it?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
