+1,145 You know how when Americans try to "speak" Chinese they just end up saying stuff like: "woi cha chumg ching chung chow"? Well I wonder what people in other countries say to mimic English... amirite?

When my cousin went to China they followed him around pushing their eyes together (To make the rounder) saying "Chawlie, chawlie, chawlie."

Hahha. Although, I don't understand why you said only Americans do this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Probably because she knows that Americans do, and isn't sure if others do too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's quite funny, actually.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I imagine they do something similar to what we do when we make fun of German. They probably just say random stuff like "Blachten schtein fyoon larg"

When other countries mimic the English language, they basically say a BUNCH of S's. Swash ssseghe ssisg ss sislso gsos. A bunch of S nonsense. But English does have a lot of S's in an average conversation.

My cousin who lived in Brazil and later in Germany said that people imitate Americans by putting a bunch of consonants together and always talk with American "a's and ih's" like in cat or pin, respectively. They talk like "act nij palt kand kipif" and stuff like that.

I was actually JUST talking to my roommates about this yesterday. They thought I was ridiculous. I'm glad someone understands me :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think about this all the time!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not only Americans do that, gosh when will you learn that there's other countries out there? Anyway, when people try to mimic English, or to be more precise, an American accent, they usually say: Oh my god, or like , or something like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are other countries out there?! Great Scott!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My grandfather does this to me. But I'm a Chinese major, so I just start talking to him in actual Chinese. When he complains that he doesn't understand what I'm saying, I tell him that I can't understand him either, so it's ok. Actually kind of annoying....

I cannot BELIEVE how many "YYA" this post got! (or "is getting...:)

When North American fobs try to be un-asian, we usually use southern accents and talk about our love of guns and alcohol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well it's true. :l It's just the same as when people pull at their eyes and go "ching chong chang"

This happened in an argument between my aunt and a Chinese acquaintance. She couldn't understand what he was saying so she made fun of him saying "Haka naka taka naka choing chang" And he replied with "Boursh boursh boursh" Apparently we have a lot of rounded vowels and stuff, r's and s's.
