+475 In reality a most girls with anorexia nervosa are 120-160lbs and only the very severe cases get to 85lbs. But whenever you hear about someone with anorexia you picture an emanciated skeleton, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

120? are you sure? I'm not short, but I'm 110, muscular, and NOT anorexic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is because you are naturally small. And if you recognize this name dear reader, this is not me trolling, this is serious.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Still, 120 is normally a healthy weight. Anorexics are almost always underweight, if not severely. They aren't going to be the same weight and more than healthy people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But you have to consider that because their bodies have gotten used to little to no food, they maintain fat and other things the body uses a lot more then say you or me. If they were to immediately start eating normal portions, they would become extremely sick and gain weight like nobodies business.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true, but in almost all cases, they are underweight, not a healthy weight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A healthy weight varies from person to person. Perhaps the reason they stay at a normal weight is because they get just enough to stay their with their bodies slow metabolism. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT AN EXPERT

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha okay. I'm just saying, they'll probably be under 120.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Congratulations, you just managed to get the only serious posts from me so far. Applause is due to you dear sir.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha sorry :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Perfectly acceptable, I believe seriousness should be saved for when it is absolutely necessary. BTW, if I end up trolling on your pages, take no offense. Its what I do.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's fine, I appreciate trolling. In most cases it's funny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's good to know I'm not alone. I'm 5'3 I think.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No actually most anorexics are at a healthy weight on the BMI scale. Most develop the disease at around 130-140lbs and it takes a while to lose weight even if your anorexic. And I know what your saying because you have to be at 16 bmi to be diagnosed with the disease but still a lot of girls are ana and just don't fit that weight limit yet. Trust me I've studied the shit out of this stuff.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most anorexics maintain a healthy weight on the outside, but are extremely unhealthy on the inside.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All the people I've met (which is a lot, I went to an anorexia support group for three months) had never been fat. Part of the disease is a distorted body image. Most don't get to the point of being fat because while they are at a normal weight, they think and feel that they are overweight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know a mom of two she is around thirty and weighs about 80 pounds and truly thinks she is fat. The malnutrition not only is causing health Issues but she can't even think right anymore Her 10 year old daughter pretty much has to take care of herself and her 4 year old little sister. Its really quite sad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I read that as "emancipated".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

To be diagnosed with anorexia though, you have to be quite underweight (BMI of 17.5 or less), so it's literally impossible to be anorexic but at a healthy weight. It is possible, however, to have the mindset at any weight. (Obviously)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im 95 lbs............ I'm short but 5ft2 isn't THAT short.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm bulemic and I've maintained a seemingly perfect bmi. Now don't Get me wrong, I've suffered with this for 2 years and lost 50 lbs. Something I never would've accomplished exercising. I absolutely hate feeling inadequate when looking in the mirror. Heaven help me before I get too skinny.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

all the girls bragging about their low weights is starting to make you feel fat, even if your not, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It doesn't matter what weight you are when you start. It is a eating disorder aka how you eat(or rather don't eat). If you started at 150 and then got down to 110 by not eating that is anorexia, even if that is still a normal weight(depending on your height). However, a doctor cannot say you have anorexia until you are underweight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm 5'1" and my lowest anorexic weight was 70lbs. :/.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Right I wasn't saying that all anorexics are overweight or a healthy weight I was just stating that the majority of the girls with this disease are actually the weight I stated in the post. I don't really know why everyone is posting that they weigh in the 90s and that they're not anorexic, I think everyone alive knows you can be skinny without having a disease. I was just trying to raise awareness about reality because my best friend starved herself from 163 down to 109 and we all believed she was just 'trying to eat more healthy' because of her size. Now she.s a stick and I feel awful.
