+29 If it doesn't have anything to do with Santa, reindeer, Jesus, Christmas trees, caroling, christmas presents, or anything directly Christmas-related, it's not a Christmas song. Therefore, Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, and Let it Snow are NOT Christmas songs, they're winter songs. amirite?

I'm pretty sure Jingle Bells refers to the bells on the reindeer that jingle...so it's a Christmas song.

No, it refers to bells on a sleigh. It never says anything about that sleigh belonging to Santa or the bells being on a reindeer.

Still, sleighs have to do with Santa.

Well, if there's a song about animals with fur, is that a christmas song since reindeer have fur?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually think that's a valid point.

It's a Thanksgiving song, actually.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It was originally written about Thanksgiving.

OCD much?

I agree with Winter Wonderland and Let it Snow, but not Jingle Bells.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Funny you should say that, because I dunno if you've heard but Jingle Bells //isn't// a Christmas song, it's a Thanksgiving song.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But no one thinks of it as a Thanksgiving song.
