+253 Wisdom teeth are a waste of enamel. Shouldn't evolution have progressed enough to where nobody grows them in? All we do is get them painfully removed or else they mess up our whole smile. amirite?

People are evolving to not have them. I only had three.

I only had 2.

My friend has 6! It's crazy. I feel really bad for her.

I have two and a half. xD Mexicans are known to not have them NEARLY as often as other people. Damn you, aztecs/mayans for being around so early on. :(

Just kill everyone with them and we should be good. That's how evolution works anyway.

Ohhh we talked about this in class. If we had stopped surgically removing wisdom teeth, we would eventually not have them. This is because wisdom teeth can actually kill you if they aren't removed. (and I'm speaking as if this was years ago when dental hygiene was not advanced). However since we do take matters into our own hands it's completely different. You can't change something physically about yourself and expect your offspring to become evolved to it, no matter how many generations of people get their wisdom teeth removed. That's not how evolution works. So really we're not evolving to not have them because so many of us get them removed.

I must be a rare case, since my wisdom teeth don't mess up my smile or negatively affect my other teeth at all.

You mustve eaten lots of tough food early on, like meats and Raw vegetables. Or luck haha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it may be a combination of both. I didn't eat things like raw meat, but I've always been known to snack on apples and carrots.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was just born without them. My dentist called me the next step in evolution O.o

You don't have wisdom teeth when you're born. As you didn't have most of your molars when you were born either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How many wisdom teeth you have really isn't a factor for most people in choosing who to have sex with, which is really what determines which characteristics survive and which don't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't have mine! But I am also missing my other molars

My wisdom teeth are fine, they won't ever need to come out, and my smile was really gappy before I got my wisdom teeth through.

I don't have them and neither does my mum, but then again my mouth is immature.... I just got my 12 year old molars
