+160 Obama has done nothing to get impeached. He has not broken the law, nor overridden the Constitution, unlike Bush, who completely destroyed the 4th Amendment with the Patriot Act, amirite?

The TSA's new laws with body scanners go way farther than what the Patriot Act ever did, just saying :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But that is not Obama personally. That's the TSA. And no, not really. The new scanners are just seeing a bit too much (and that's bad, I think they're overkill. I don't know what the alternative is, but I still think they're overkill). With the Patriot Act, phone lines were being tapped without the knowledge or consent of the tap-ees.

I think the alternative is letting everyone bring whatever the hell they want on the plane. If a terrorist has a gun or something, other people will have weapons to fight, which seems like a better alternative to having everything taken and being at the mercy of whoever managed to sneak in a weapon.

You just brought a gun to a bomb fight...armed with a dead man's switch

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Considering they're offering a service, I think it's reasonable for them to require whatever they want. If you don't like it take the bus.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also, you can opt out of getting a body scan by asking for a pat-down, or you can just not travel. With the Patriot Act, there is no choice. Also, I think people are making a bigger deal about the body scanners than they need to. The person who is scanning you is in a different area of the airport, so they can't connect your body with your face. I heard something about them using new body scanners that are not as detailed, too. I don't know. If it would stop people from being able to get on planes with explosives in their underwear on Christmas Eve...

Those body scanners aren't even bad. I've went through them numerous times. They look at it for like ten seconds, then delete it and someone else gets scanned. I have no problem getting scanned if that helps prevent a bomb from getting on the plane.

You forgot about Bush's No Child Left Behind act. That is also arguably unconstitutional.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THANK YOU! No Child Left behind is the dumbest thing ever thought of. It fucked over the already screwed education system.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What about the health care bill! Forcing people to get medical coverage even when they don't necessarily want it! Id call that unconstitutional!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Many states have laws that force people to buy car insurance, and no one is giving a hoot. Why is this different?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because car accidents directly effect other people. If a guy can't pay for his hospital room its his fault he doesn't have insurance, and its only going to effect him.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Forcing someone to have car insurance is very different in that the way it is enforced allows you to choose your coverage from any number of agencies. What the government tried to do was force everyone to only get health care through them, monopolizing a market and taking a first step towards socialism.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Many people thought Social Security was socialist and unconstitutional when FDR implemented it, but the country was in trouble, and it was beneficial. The Supreme Court didn't even deem it unconstitutional like they did with some of his other New Deals. A lot of things we do already could be considered socialist like giving out free vaccines and stuff to poor people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not to mention the fact that you can choose to not purchase car insurance if you truly don't want to, simply don't drive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because it is the states making the law and not the federal government. 10th amendment to the constitution.

Finally! Intelligence, it has been a long time since we've seen each other.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How about we agree that both parties pretty much are made of pure evil and each have politicians that are incredibly corrupt/incompetent and leave it at that? As opposed to blaming each party of pretty much being the equivalent of Hitler and Communism.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think we're being pretty civilized, actually. In this post at least, no one has made extreme accusations and everyone is talking about individual people, not generalizing parties. Did you even read the comments..? It might change but it seems like for a political argument over the internet... people are being pretty chill.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

sure they're being chill right now, but you know that with a post like this someone's gonna be like "OMG YEAH? OBAMA'S A TERRORIST AND DEMOCRATS ARE ALL HIPPIES" not that I have a problem with hippies...

Even Nixon wasn't impeached, and I doubt Obama is more a criminal than he was. (I know he resigned, but just sayin').

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nixon wasn't impeached only because he quit before Congress got the chance to impeach him

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know. Congress didn't get a chance to impeach him because he resigned. It's in the parentheses. I'm saying I think his crimes are worse than anything Obama has done.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nixon was, for all intent and purpose, impeached, so to say he wasn't impeached, I believe is not totally correct

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I guess you could say it's a technicality.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

will you idiots ever shut up about bush? Eventually your going to have to find another reason why Obama is so awesome.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just so yall know, Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus at the start of the Civil War

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ugh.. this happens with every god damn president.
