Not everyone was bad to their slaves; mainly the Southerner's were, but even some of them were nice. The North didn't really have as many slaves, but we certainly did have them. Not to say there wasn't some people who were cruel to the slaves up here, but in general we were pretty decent.

This is one of my biggest problems with society today. People think they can get what they want by yelling racist. Anyone who doesn't like Obama? Racist. Oh, no, it can't have ANYTHING to do with the fact that he is single-handedly bankrupting our country, it's because he's black. And the biggest problem is, only whites seem to be able to be racist. It's 2010. We live in an intellectual world, so act like it. Racism is not a trait of one race, but all races. There are plenty of blacks who are racist towards whites. There's plenty of hispanics who are racist towards whites. And blacks. It has nothing to do with the race of the person, and everything to do with the person themselves. Do we have to remind everyone that blacks were only freed because whites freed them? And fought and died for their freedom?

Our nation was in debt before Obama, don't blame him. It's because of him that we will come out of debt.

It's because of the government that we're in debt, and it's not going to change any time soon. Obama hasn't even tried to balance the budget in any meaningful way. It's on his list of things that would be good just under world peace and above making the Clintons have a happy marriage.

Thank you. I'm part German, and have been looked at by countless Jewish girls in school who go "O-M-G, your people KILLED my people!" Uh, no. They didn't. My family was in America during the war and those that weren't had to worry about footsteps in their flowerbeds because they kept badmouthing Hitler. So can it, obnoxious know-nothings.

German-anonymous, just remember, the Jews were being killed in far worse ways before any Germans came around. Ironically, people who were treated worse than slaves (in America): Jews, Muslims, Native Americans, IRISH, Chinese, and Mexicans. Sorry, but there are more dead Chinese people from building the railroad system than there ever were black people from slavery.

Chinese people werent slaves that were forced to work on the railroad systems it was there job. Black people on the other hand were slaves and were forced to work. I do agree with this comment however, though Black people arent the only ones that need to forget race.
