+114 It's wrong to name a dog after something that kills it (even if that was not intended) like "Chocolate". It's like naming a human "Cancer", just because it sounds like a good name, amirite?

Chocolate won't necessarily kill a dog, just make it sick to it's stomach, but I get your point.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well actually large amounts will make them sick and lead to death, but I get your point too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

large amounts of anything could probably lead to death

Chocolate blinds dogs, actually. And 'Cancer' is a zodiac sign. Just thought I'd put that out there...

I'm really surprised my dog isn't blind then, she's always stealing chocolate. haha

D: You really should stop her. I mean, I'm no vet or anything... but my aunt is xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We don't GIVE her chocolate, we'd never. S.e steals it, no matter where we put it, and she bites us when we try to take it from her. My dog is pretty crazy.'. haha

Chocolate is toxic to dogs. You seriously need to stop her.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can't think of anything that wouldn't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In her defence, she didn't say that large amounts wouldn't have this effect.

My dog's name is Vick.

Ok, just as a clarification, the more you think about it, the more weird it seems that your dog's name also is something that could kill them...it's not nescessarily wrong, but you get my drift.

Humans name their pets after things they find emotionally pleasing (that is, assuming they like them). The pets won't understand. They don't know what chocolate is. They just think we're saying their name. But call a child "cancer" and they'll grow up knowing what cancer is and that their name is cancer and find it insulting to their own being.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly! You would name a brown dog chocolate because it looks like the colour chocolate. No kid looks like "cancer".

Cancer isn't only something that kills! But, that said, some people are into some pretty sick shit and it wouldn't surprise me if someone somewhere has wanted to name their baby Cancer after the something that does kill... But when I read it like that ('Cancer' with a capital C), I don't associate it with the nasty thing that kills people.
