+377 Let's all celebrate Christmas, Jesus's birthday, and ignore the fact that he would've celebrated Hanukkah, amirite?

Christian Messmore? More like Christian DICK.

Jesus wasn't born in December...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

uh, yes

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True, but they're still celebrating his birthday, they're just celebrating it at a different time than it actually was. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, it's celebrated at the time most religions, especially old ones, had their savior born during. In Egyptian mythology, Horus had the same birthday, and a lot of the same life. It's a really interesting comparison.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's also Dionysus' birthday.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yep. So many ways to compare things among all the worldly religions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Except Jesus wouldn't have celebrated birthdays either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He could've been. There's an equal chance he was born in December as any other month.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hanukkah was earlier this year, so it makes no difference anyhow@861315 (shorkian): It's generally accepted that he was born during a time when it wouldn't have been freezing out as indicated by "the shepherds were tending their flocks by night" (no one herds sheep in winter)

I would call Jesus's birthday more like "Easter"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

unless you're referring to some metaphysical interpretation, as in "new birth", that'd be simply the celebration of His resurrection

by Anonymous 13 years ago

let's just receive presents and cut the crap

Problem Jesus?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i like this

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He actually wouldn't have celebrated Chanukah, because it's more of a military holiday than anything and wouldn't have been followed back then! A for Effort though!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He actually would have considering it was a religious holiday even in his day. You can look it up if you don't believe me. F for failing to do research though!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm half-Jewish, half-Christian. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

His religion wasn't Jewish. It was his ethnicity, so i don't think he would have.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

His religion was Jewish... he read and taught the Torah and observed all the Jewish holidays.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well, if that is true, i was told wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He quoted Jewish scriptures, and celebrated Passover and prayed at Synagogues ya he was certainly a jew. http://jesusisajew.org/Jesus_is_a_Jew.php

Actually Jesus was born in the summer sometime.
