+242 When a show has a laugh track, people pause while it's laughing. In real life, it would be extremely awkward, amirite?

I was in a comedic play and we had to pause for laughter. The audience on the first night was so stiff....it was a lot of awkward staring for what appeared to be no reason.

Ugh, stiff audiences suck. My last show was a commedy, and in the greenroom we were like "After intermission we are going to go out there and tell them they had better laugh because we are fucking funny and it helps our self esteem" It's also awkward if the character makes a joke in the show, and your character finds it funny and the audience doesn't so you're just laughing there on stage by yourself.

Yeah. I played a whacked out zen person and one of my monologues was a rant about my shitty life, and no one laughed and I just looked like a whacked out freak.
