+233 Wikileaks is exposing the corruption of the U.S. government, not harming the U.S. government, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unfortunately Assange hates the U.S. and a huge majority of the leaks are U.S. leaks. This takes them a bit off the level playing field. The leaks aren't a bad thing because it makes the government transparent as it should be, but it will also put many U.S. troops that are overseas in more danger due to the heightened tensions.

Your really don't think that confidential information is leaving our country subject to attack? Of course it's harming our government!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they exposed our military/defense plans, right? That means anyone can see them. Which is harming the government AND the soldiers.

I watched a video on what was exposed and it was basically all about how wrong US soldiers were treating iraqi civilians. Basically 2/3 of the deaths in Iraq were civilians, all we did was go and fuck their shit up. Those people will never forgive us now after the shit we did to them. http://world911truth.org/iraq-secret-war-files-wikileaks/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually 100% of the Iraqi deaths were civilians. Because nearly 100% of the Islamic radical terrorists in Iraq are citizens there. Of course civilians are dying, but they are terrorists as well

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We are not helping rebuild a country if there are over 30 IED explosions a day and deaths on every street corner. They shot a guy carrying a satchel because it was suspicious-when they looked inside, he had only books. ahh this makes my heart ache.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not trying to defend anything they did by saying this, but keep in mind- They're trained to practically act on impulse. They're being shot at, they're not sure who to trust, and they want to be safe so they can go home and see their families.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah but they have destroyed so many families in Iraq similar to American Families, its just stupid they make it seem like everything's fine and dandy over there. Iraqi people were only retaliating more after we had been dicking around with them. I'm not against people in the services, though i'm against war. It fucks people up and theres really no point for it., a US military woman shot herself after seeing they way they tortured war prisoners. At least watch the video, the accounts are real. Also, sending a civilian to inspect some debris that could possibly be a bomb while you wait to see if it does anything is a savage an unethical way of trying to get home safe.

Except, it is probably run by the goverment to distract from their real conspiricies

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it _is_ harming the govt. lets say that you kept a diary, and i read it and leaked all of it on facebook, but only the bas parts. that isnt just saying "hey, this person isnt perfect, there corrupt" its making huge openings for attacks. so him saying "in 68 hrs the us troop 9809 is ganna attack this city that has wemon and children, its tell the bad guys where they are going to be and putting al of the soldiers at much bigger risks than necesarry

Anyone who thinks that nothing was harmed by Wikileaks or that the information should have been public in the first place is a complete idiot. People have died from this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Please, do some research before you post, their are young impressionable people on this site.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's doing both.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Both, but more harm than help.

The info in there actually showed that U.S. diplomats were a lot more competent, effective, and -for lack of a better word- noble, than most people thought before the leaks. They actually did what's best for other nations in a lot of cases instead of being Americocentric. The most scanalous things in there were a few snarky comments about a couple of leaders. It's more like exposing good things than bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And a little tid bit about Hillary Clinton collecting information about foreign leaders, such as computer passwords, personal data, and even DNA in a few cases. That's not really that scandalous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True, I forgot about that part too. The DNA thing is kind of strange, I can't really think of a use for that...

http://world911truth.org/iraq-secret-war-files-wikileaks/ There was also info about how many civilians were being killed in Iraq, its an appalling number. We basically created the enemies. We went in and fucked their shit up until they got pissed enough to retaliate. A married (Iraqi) couple got shot to death as they were driving home trying to make curfew with 6 children in the back-one of the boys was shot through the spine and paralyzed. That's just fucked up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, unfortunatley that's true. But it was already known that that kind of thing was happening, even though it was technically classified. I should have been clearer in my comment, I was only talking about new info.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ah I havn't seen anything newer, that'd be it. I only recently saw the video and I also sorta figured that stuff was happening-I guess seeing the hard graphic proof of it really made it sink in.

Assange hates the US, and he's practically an untouchable, a possible marytr. He plays outside the law, the US government can't do that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's kinda funny, because the US government doesn't have any actual laws about secrecy. Sure they enforce it, but not on legal terms, it's more like anyone working for the gov't that leaks sensitive information is going to get fired, and if they purposely leak it to enemy forces, then it brings in the matter of espionage and traitor.
