+184 G-mail shouldn't be allow to ask for your number for "security" reasons. You should be allowed to make an account just because, they have no right to ask for that it is private, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gmail actually takes all the information that it can and scans your emails so that it can send you advertisements depending on your interests.

Than... don't sign up. no one is forcing you. and they do have a right to ask; just not a right to demand.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they don't demand it...it's just a way to reset/recover your password if it gets hacked or you forget

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they do you can't make an account if you don't or fix your old account if you don't give you your number :( i think they removed it though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Google can just itself you and find any information it wants. Just keep that in mind...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They don't demand it. And the have the right do whatever they bloody well want on their website. If you don't like the way their site works, don't use it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't.

The grammar in the second half of this post is horrible.

*sigh* I know. I wrote that at like 1:00 AM, I did not care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, they have absolutely no right to ask anything of you. It's not like they're providing you a service or anything...wait...but you're paying for it, so they shouldn't...wait...Okay, so it's useful and free to you, and you're whining that they want your number?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

-.-' They can ask for your e-mail no problem. I am not paying for it, I am paying for the internet. You have no idea what they could do with you number, what if they somehow manage to get hacked? Do you trust those pop up ads that ask for your phone number? Google is no different.
