what is an aria? what is the magic flute?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Magic Flute is an opera by Mozart, and an aria is like a female solo piece within an opera. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2ODfuMMyss

i could do that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can, Ross. You can. Just believe.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh at first I thought you said "I wish I could do that." What is it with me and misreading your comments?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Still works.

you know what they say, rocky puts the "sexy" in "dyslexic"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know it baby. hello

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Name five others that you've heard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you implying he hasn't heard five others? Given the sheer number of operas that have been written, don't you think it's likely that he has?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is the most known aria in the entire globe and I'm quite sure also the galaxy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pretty sure "Habanera" is more well known.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's one title, not 5. This is like saying "All you need is love" is the best love song written.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What point are you trying to make? That just because it's one of the more well-known arias, I can't like it the best? I have heard a lot of arias; their names aren't very memorable, are they though? Stop being so pretentious and let me enjoy my Mozart.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not against you liking that music, and I don't even care for it really. I would just as likely comment on an "All you need is love" being best love song, in this way. It's just basically a meh/unnecessary post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How is it a meh/unnecessary post? Because it's not clever? No, it's a valid opinion I felt like sharing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well as a post it's fine, just not for the homepage. I mean, jeez, what are you thinking? Modding doesn't add 20 extra points to every post you make, giving it the opportunity to always make the home page! When it was homepage'd, it only had a positive digit of total votes! It's really not that good.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Its low score can be attributed to the users' general lack of Classical music knowledge, not the quality of the post. And I didn't put this on the homepage.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Their music knowledge doesn't really matter here, does it? I mean it's a place for discussion and sharing, and I understand that you like this music and wanted the world to know, but who the hell cares?! Water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, but that posted wouldn't be good enough to make the homepage now would it? This just doesn't belong on the homepage, that's all. I hope whoever homepaged this reads this comment, you really did nothing wrong if you didn't make this get to the homepage.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen" is not a damn opinion. What kind of discussion can you have about that? I can make sure the mod who homepage'd this reads these comments. However, as a mod myself, I can look at this post objectively and say it DOES belong on the homepage.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fine, it was a bad example. Having had been awake for >24 hours does this to you, but you still understood what I meant. Sure, it CAN be seen as an opinion, but not every opinion should be on the homepage! This is just a lame post, no disrespect, and I think I've made my point. I'll just leave this post alone now, I can't change anything anyway. Just wanted my opinion heard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hi. I'm the mod who homepaged this. Since you'd obviously like some justification, here you go: 1. It's an opinion. Must be, because I don't agree with it. 2. I usually don't approve posts that are extremely esoteric. I'll just leave them be, and if votes do it, then that's fine. However, I figured that since this covered the entire category of "opera" it was broad enough, even though I'm perfectly aware that opera probably has a very small fanbase on this site. That said, next time you call someone out, please don't make assumptions and then get defensive when they come back and bite you. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

K. It's not my choice what you mods put on the homepage, after all, so I guess I should just once more put up with more crappy posts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you feel so strongly about it, feel free to complain to Ant. He'll promptly laugh at you and tell you to leave him alone. Have a good night.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't believe the singer could hit that high 'F' at the end-amazing.

We learned about this in AP Euro. It apparently shows enlightenment values, as well as depicting women as emotional and spontaneous
