Harry was running through the forest, the Dark Lord inching closer at a fast pace, when Harry turned to face him and raised his wand shouting "Accio Big Mac"

Stanley from Holes was fat and that book was really popular.

I was just about to say that. In fact, I did. I saw this and edited it out though. They made him thin in the movie though.

I don't see why Harry being fat would change anything. It's not like your start to read the book, and then you're like "Oh wait... He's fat? Next."
by Anonymous13 years ago
You would need to imagine someone to take place of whenever you read "Harry", and the word "fat" has a negative connotation in today's society, thus making most visualisations of him ugly.

Why are you downing my comment? Dudley, the most made-fun-of and supposedly least liked person for the reader, is fat! Rowling talks about it multiple times, and in a bad way too, along with Vernon. "... a big, beefy man with hardly any neck"?

If Harry Potter was a girl, the books wouldn't be as popular.
If Harry Potter was gay, the books wouldn't be as popular. (Or homosexuality wouldn't be used as an insult now)
If Harry Potter had normal aunt and uncle, the books wouldn't be as popular.
If Harry Potter hadn't changed his mind and befriended Hermione, the books wouldn't be as popular (for the girls).
If Harry Potter simply hadn't ever befriended Ron, the books wouldn't be as popular (for the guys).
If Harry Potter hadn't had glasses, the books wouldn't be as popular.
It's not JUST the idea of a wizard that made this popular! It's the whole package of the books, all the details combined in a specific thing.

She wasn't exactly saying that because of fat people bringing a negative thought, I believe she was speaking from inside the story itself, such as, being able to be remarkibly agile on a broom stick
would not have worked that well if he weighs 400 pounds,
being able to escape death by an inch, you picture a fat kid running sweaty and behind everyone else
it would be a lot of effort to write the character as fat

he*
