Tap water has chlorine, lead, copper, and fluoride in it. For both health and taste reasons I prefer purified water.

I'm from Alaska and my tap water is pure. There's nothing put in it and it doesn't even have to be filtered, so it's still healthy and tastes great!

Depends on location. My city, for instance, has a large underground reservoir, so the water is pretty clean. Other cities on the Mississippi River, however, typically drink my city's treated sewage. This is just one example, of course. I don't suppose everybody on this site lives downriver of me.

I've always had tap water and it tastes fine to me. Sometimes bottled water is more nasty than what i get from my sink.

The water in my town was known to cause types of cancer and contained high levels of some toxic chemical I can't remember the name of... There were signs posted above the water fountians at school at stuff and letters sent out to all the residents...
