+376 The real reason why translators don't translate perfectly is so that you can't cheat on foreign language assignments, amirite?

Ha, I know of couple friends who speak German or Spanish, and they've had conversations online with other English-speaking kids who claimed they could also speak it, but my mates were pretty sure that they were using translators, because the German/Spanish was wrong in a structural way, and if you understood it, it would sound the equilvant of caveman-talk.

"caveman-talk" HAHAHHAHA that had me chuckling out loud.

Haha, but you know what I mean, like the "Me Tarzan, you Jane" thing? And when people use words that are correct out of context, but incorrect? Like, if I typed "I walked into a large room", and then translated it, it might say something like "I walked into an obese room". Large and obese could mean the same thing, but not in that context.

yeah, but sometimes it's ok if it's not perfect. for example, if they are missing pronouns like is,am,are because some cultures (china) don't use them in their language and just say it directly like "I sad" instead of "I am sad." and it pisses me off when people get discriminated because of their imperfect grammar (immigrants) I mean hey, it's a new language to them, that's one more than you know amirite?

Ugh. There was this girl who I was friends with at camp and she had this frenchy-phase where she put all her statuses in French but you could tell it was translated (I speak enough French to know that) and it didn't make sense but she claimed she could speak it. So I chat her up and speak in French to her and she's all "What?" and I say "...tu parles francais, oui?" and she says "I'm still learning! D:<" and then I say "Using google translate does not count as learning." It's so annoying when people claim they can speak a language but are faking it for the sake of looking smart. /end of rant
