Or famous.

true true

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If someone commits sucide, can you blame the victim?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why do you say 'victim' like they're not a victim?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

victim of their own stupidity

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Even if they have a psychological problem, they aren't stupid

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's what I was thinking. Its a good post but I don't like how op did that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think the OP is saying that bullies might not be the cause of the suicide.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not always but very often but even if it wasn't because of being bullied it could be because of family problems which you could be a *victim* of and all other kinds of things.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my point was that bullies aren't usually the cause of the suicide, usually more like an underlying psychological problem.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A lot of the time it is bullying though. My moms bestfriend from high school had great parents, plenty of money, was fairly pretty, and very smart. She was bullied all through school because of how much she cared about her grades. The bullying was so bad that one she just decided she couldn't take it anymore and she killed herself. She had a great life but stupid harsh kids made her dread going to school everyday.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that sucks :( But i wasn't questioning the life of the person who killed themselves, more what mental health problems they may have had gone unseen cause normal people just don't kill themselves no matter how bad their life may suck.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well ill have to respectfully disagree. I believe anyone normal or not whom is treated bad enough or has a hard enough life could end their lives.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

would you consider yourself of normal mental health?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ha no.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

then maybe you would kill yourself but us other sane people would stick it out in the hopes of a better future :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol no I'm not suicidal. Crazy maybe but still ill have to disagree with you even the most emotionally stable people could become suicidal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol, the terms suicidal and emotionally stable contradict in the strictest sense

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I said *could become suicidal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

emotionally stable people can't just "become suicidal". that is a sigh of instability.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if something stable it *can* become unstable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

mentally speaking not until you're really old lol, unless you've had brain damage

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha ok well I'm just going to agree to disagree. Ok with you?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

damn str8 :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I always thought this was unfair. I mean, obviously it is awful when these things happen, but every person who kills themselves has obviously has had an awful life. Either show 'em all on the news or none at all, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't have to have an awful life to want to kill yourself.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How the fuck does that work?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They are shown on the news because we are trying to stop bullying. All deaths are equally important, but people are trying to fight bullying and these deaths confirm how serious of a problem it is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or they offed themselves in a way that affected/inconvenienced a lot of people, such as jumping off a highway overpass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Madoff's son.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, if a person kills himself because he was being bullied for being gay, that's obviously indicative of a society-level prejudice, a modern-day racial discrimination. If a person kills himself just because of simple depression, well, that isn't quite as newsworthy. I don't think that a compassionate person should complain about gay suicides in the news, rather than the bullies who tormented said gay person.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The person doesn't even have to be gay to get bullied.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree but I hate your quotations on the word victim. If someone is bullied sooo badly that they want to kill themselves, they are a victim wether they kill themselves or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Depression can often lead to suicidal thoughts and actions. It can be genetic and not triggered by anything significant. It can ALSO be caused by outside problems, like getting bullied. Why these stories are news worthy is because this was not a problem that couldn't be avoided, like inheriting depression from a parent, which will always be there. This is caused by the environment that can be changed. I wouldn't say it's common, but more often than not it is someone who is already depressed/with an underlying problem that commits suicide. So when someone commits suicide because of something like bullying, it gets a lot of coverage. It's isn't coming from the inside of the victim. I mean, obviously the victim has inner problems with all the bullying going on, but it isn't something pre-wired in their brain. (and no, I'm not saying if you are pre-wired to inherit depression you will get it and commit suicide)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree completely.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe you are a victim of your own consequences with suicide. I know tons of people who have shit lives and still wouldn't think twice about suicide. I understand its hard, but in no/way/shape/form are other people the "real" killers/precedent of suicide. As for causes... Well that itself is slightly different, but nonetheless something you can doc away from suicide reasons (meaning ignore it, not care, etc.). .
