I did an assignment about modelling in magazines and such, and most websites said that female models (these are magazine models, not runway ones) would try and look as "Caucasian" as possible - light skin, and wider eyes. Otherwise they tend to be put into limited roles - IE, an Asian woman only advertising Chinese food, or an dark-skinned woman only used in, say, to accompany an article about a crisis in an African country. Also, in certain native areas there is a "class system" where the lighter a person's skin is, the more up in society they are. Like, light skin means you're rich, whereas dark skin would mean you're poor, and a labourer, and you work in the sun all day.

Miranda Cosgrove? Or is it the other way around? WHAT THE HELL IS SHE?

Yeah, like they die their hair blonde or light brown and put in blue contacts. It's not just trying to be white, though. The Americanization (or Westernization in general) is evident as well.

Japanese women even try to get plastic surgery to make their eyes look more American. But like jojo said its americanization.. Ever since the end of WW2 when general MacArthur basically wrote their constitution with a pen and introduced our culture to them they've been trying to imitate it. Its no coincidence that tokyo looks like New York. And that the #1 selling album in the U.S is almost always the #1 album in japan..

There's a South African musician, Mshoza. She's black, but for some reason she's decided to bleach her skin and have plastic surgery. Apparently she's "been black for 30+ years and now she wants to see what it's like to be white." Right. She says her goal is to have the same skin tone as Christina Aguilera. She also recently attempted suicide. It's sad that people are trying to be someone they're not. Coming from a white person, people from all races can be attractive, regardless of skin tone and eye shape. Imagine if everyone in the world was white with the same skin tone and same shaped eyes. We'd all we pretty boring and unattractive.
