+509 It sucks that if a woman beat up on her husband and he finally hit back in self-defense, the man would probably get in trouble, amirite?

Unfortunate but true. Although violence against women is more prevailant, it does happen to men as well. And they're less likely to seek help in long-term domestic situations.

While abuse does happen to men as well, if he was defending himself he wouldn't get into trouble.

it is because men are supposed to be in control of the woman's body not the other way around. Men would just find it embarrassing. It is a good thing, because women should hit men, for all the things that they did to women over the years...

Abuse should never be tolerated, ever, no matter if the abuser is a man or a woman. And saying that women should hit men because of what was done to them in the past is just spiteful. I'm a woman, and I would never think that way. Two wrongs don't make a right. It just stirs up more trouble. With your logic, it would advocate for blacks to enslave whites, Jews to kill Germans etc. How the hell is that solving any problems?

Don't fight fire with fire.

If he was defending him self he PROBABLY wouldnt get in trouble. I dunno. The law is really fucked up. I pushed my mom away from me cuz she spat in my face and left two tiny little marks on her nose from her glasses barley being pushed into her nose, and I got an asault charge, but when she hit me in the face with a lamp and i had blood dripping from 2 wounds on my forhead and 1 from my scalp, I got in trouble for being emotional and having an attitude, and they said "well thats parenting"

probably because the woman would be the one with the bruise on her face.

Abuse goes both ways. Please try to support the victims disregarding their gender. Domestic Violence is a social crime that creates bad impacts on the whole society, and mainly on children. To be honest, if a wife is abusing a husband, the effects are lot worse than the other way. The reason is not based on gender. Problem is that male victims seldom try to get support and defenses because of humiliation in the society. Don't forget that in many cases they are physically stronger than their partners. Accepting abuse for years and years, some day they burst out. In many cases, such relationships end up with some harsh realities. They either kill themselves, or their partners. Abuse is abuse. No matter who is aggressor and who is victim. If you know someone who is abusing his/her partner, please help the victim. This is your duty. There are plenty of boards on internet, even for male victims.
