+835 In the world of MTV, when a girl is in her sixteenth year she either gets an extravagant birthday party or a baby. Most sixteen-year-olds I know would settle for a new iPod, amirite?

Don't most 16 year olds get new cars? Idk about you, but I would be a little upset if I got an iPod instead of a car.

some of their parents cant afford cars. and it says a lot for a 16 year old that would be extremely grateful for a $300 ipod when they could've had a $20,000 car.

I had to buy my own car, and I'm paying for the insurance and gas. My parent's are upper-middle class, but they'll be damned if they let me cruise through life without responsibility or learning how to manage my money.

I just got birthday party. But, I don't care, because my parents buy me a lot of stuff (well, not really a lot of stuff, but little odds and ends). I'd much rather have that than a new car and a bunch of other expensive stuff.

I got an ipod on my sixteenth birthday. I was a happy about it. AND it's definitely better than a baby! So, good birthday.

Birthdays aren't that big a deal for me, for my 16th I got 2 piercings which is good enough for me.

Don't the 16 year olds get babies on MTV?

I got a mini laptop which is the same price as an ipod and I was very happy. My mum asked me if any one I knew had a super sweet sixteen party and I said the most extravaggent it got was a dinner at a russian resteraunt. So yes you're quite right.
