It pretty much is. I know people who are irritable and get headaches when they don't drink soda. It eventually can turn into a caffeine addiction.

it takes less than you think to get a caffeine addiction... those headache ARE caffeine withdrawl. i personally stopped having any caffeine start of the summer, after the first few weeks (which were hell) you are a lot less tired and stuff. apparently until the caffeine's filtered out through your kidneys it makes you very lethargic after the overdrive effect goes away, for days. so you drink more caffeine to be awake, then you're more tired, etc vicious cycle. tbh i no longer hav any interest in having more than small amounts in chocolate anymore lol.

I know it's caffeine withdrawal. It's why I pointed it out. My best friend gave up caffeine for an addictions class and she was moody all semester. My mom gets headaches when she doesn't drink caffeine.
I rarely drink soda now because I don't want to develop that kind of addiction.

sorry, your wording confused me. made it sound like you were saying you could have withdrawal effects before being addicted. And yea, caffeine addiction sucks. Never had problems 'till I started taking a prescription stimulant for ADD (inb4addisntreal) and later figured out it affected me exactly the same as caffeine, including addictive/withdrawl effects, so now i can't have either.

ADD/ADHD is real. It's just overdiagnosed and everyone thinks they have it. Just like OCD. (I have a huge problem with those. Mom's a psychologist. Can't help it.)
Caffeine addiction does suck. I've never suffered from it, but I know tons of people who have. It's probably the most common addiction out there.

same here, I stopped drinking soda when I was 12 or 13
by Anonymous12 years ago
That's pretty much when I started drinking it...
by Anonymous12 years ago
Obviously most of us drink soda, or else they wouldn't have a whole isle dedicated to it in the grocery store.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yup, only water or tea.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Teaaaa. :D

My parents didn't let me have any until I was six 'cause they thought it was unhealthy for a kid to be drinking it, and being the picky eater I was at age six I shrieked about the bubbles and refused to touch it. I still don't really like it.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I think six is still too young to be drinking it.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Six?! I didnt dtart until last year.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not on a regular basis but I will if I'm at a restaurant or something.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I drink the fruit flavored carbonated water. I think it taste better.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Flavored carbonated water is soda...
by Anonymous12 years ago
I know, but I like to think it's not as unhealthy...
by Anonymous12 years ago
The fruit-flavored carbonated waters don't have sugar in them.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Sure, but neither do diet sodas. That doesn't mean it's not a soda
by Anonymous12 years ago
Diet sodas use a different type of sweetener. If I'm correct, flavored waters don't use sweeteners.
by Anonymous12 years ago
No, flavored waters and diet sodas both use aspartame and acesulfame potassium for sweeteners.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Ah, my mistake. I don't drink flavored waters or diet soda because I think they're gross. But the artificial sweeteners aren't really much better for you than sugar. They just have no calories.
by Anonymous12 years ago
The only sofa I ever drink is usually diet coke.
by Anonymous12 years ago
They have Diet Coke sofas?!
by Anonymous12 years ago
I know a guy.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I used to like soda. But once you know what it is, it tastes all sticky and disgustingly sweet.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I know it's unhealthy but I drink soda more than anything else. I have had an addiction since 4th grade. I drink 5 daily on average
by Anonymous12 years ago
I used to drink normal soda but now I've switched to diet. I hate normal soda. It's like drinking syrup.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I've always hated it. It was pretty annoying when I was at parties and the only drinks available were fizzy drinks.
