salt - it is a more bitter tasting seasoning put on a lot of food. It is Sodium Chloride chemically although there are a few different types. It can make things drier to eat. It is part of why the sea is not drinkable. Smells - they are odours emitted by certain things, smell is a big part of taste in human senses. Idiocy - see the OP for reference.
