I don't smoke in public because I don't smoke cigarettes, but I always carry a lighter... I used to use "got a light?" as a way to break the ice with cute strangers, and if someone does that with me I wanna be prepared xD

Wow explaining makes the joke lose its purpose, but here it goes. In concerts or shows, if someone likes a song (typically a slow song with a steady beat) they wave a lit lighter to the beat. it's a sign or respect for the artist's performance. this is a joke saying that he carries a lighter, and while you would assume he's a smoke, he's not. haha? right? no. because i had to explain it -sigh- but it is a Demetri Martin joke. i believe from his comedy central presents, but don't quote be on that.
