+579 It shouldn't matter how many days of school (unexcused and excused) I miss as long as I pass my exams. amirite?

I got pneumonia twice in one semester, and I would have gotten no credit for any of my classes, even though I kept up with all the work. But begging and pleading goes a surprisingly long way

It works (pretty much anyway) that way in University. Though sometimes classes will have participation marks. I think ultimately they believe that it's your money, so spend it as you like. Missing class only really affects you, so what difference does it make?

I dunno about unexcused days in middle and high school because they figure if kids take an unexcused absence, their parents don't know it and the kid is wandering around causing trouble. But excused absences (sicks days... ect.) shouldn't matter. I know a lot of people that are just sick a lot.

I agree, but if you have more than 10 unexcused absents at my school you have to appear at our "Appeals Court."

In elementary-high school, the schools make money for every kid that's there. They also assume you're skipping, and failing tests look bad for the school.

My senior year I was in a crash and I suffered some bad injuries. I missed like 6 weeks of school. Surprisingly I had all my work caught up before graduation but was told I couldn't graduate because of my absences. I got our local news involved and I got to graduate on time... haha.

I missed over 30 days of school my junior year. They just made me make-up school hours by staying for after-school detention because we weren't allowed to miss over 10 days per class.

Sounds like you need to go to college. That is if you can make it there... that's pretty much how it is in every class. Except some teachers who like to make attendance part of the grade and take off one letter grade for each absence after the specified amount of dates missed.
