+504 People say "recycle your plastic bottles" all the time. You really want to recycle? Refill your plastic bottles with faucet water and don't buy bottled water again. Sure, you'll be putting Poland Spring or Deer Park out of business, but hey, you'll save the environment, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and be drinking nasty ass water.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's called a filter. You could use one of those.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes but filters are typically made out of plastice which apparently is bad for the environment. also filters are ugly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not the ones you put on the faucet. They make pitchers you can filter the water through and put it in the fridge.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the pitchers are made of plastic, right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Tap water differs from place to place. Mine is fine. And sure, filters are made of plastic, but thats just one plastic item, instead of thousands.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pur is the way to go!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What the crap is Polar Spring and Deer Park? More like Ice Mountain and Aquafina.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol its new York water bottling companies. This person is probably a new Yorker.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Poland Spring is from Maine. & it's the most common. Some people say that Aquafina is just bottled tap water.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh... Cool I didn't know that. But its the major water distributor in new york (I live in NYC)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never even heard of those, probably because I'm too chill up in the middle of nowhere, aka Minnesota.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in Delaware and those are the most common here.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or dasani

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, except doing that is bad for you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But...you're saving the environment! D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But it's unhealthy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

reusing plastic bottles is reaaalllly bad for you. Toxic chemicals from the plastic leaches into your drink...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, I said it's unhealthy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're talking about tap water, it's no more bad for you than bottled water. Well, in some places. The cleanliness of it is different in different places.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not! I'm saying if you put water in plastic bottles you already used then it becomes bad for you, like what kiwimango said.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, yeah. I was just confused.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sorry meant to reply to the comment before yours :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually you can recycle it, but only for a limited tries depending on what kind of plastic you use.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Buy a metal water bottle and refill that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as for the OP, I think they mean recycle the plastic, ie. Melt it and re-purpose it... Not re-use the actual bottle. and 'donjudge' got it right, reusable bottles are the most ideal because they're safe, cheaper and healthier.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its unsafe to re-use plastic water bottles

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Increases the risk of getting cancer from the plastic every time you re-use one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Buy water? What blashpehmy is this!? Hehe I'm kidding. But here in Iceland water is 100% free! You can have it whenever you want as much as you want. Hot water will cost a tid bit tough. Unfortunately for me tough the plumbing in my home is kinda old (about 15 years old which is almost as old as I am) so the water is not quite as good as it could be.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So buy a reusable water bottle

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My bad, meant to reply to the 1st guy

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reusing plastic water bottles increases your risk of getting cancer. It's legitimately bad for you. Plus, the reusable water bottles make the water taste funny IMO.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Its funny how you think we know your local water brands.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I knew them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

YOU ARE SO COOL!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

IKR?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no, YKR!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

poland spring? what about Arrow

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Believe it or not, California water brands do not ship all over the country, they have separate brands in other places to save money. Poland Spring is from New England. (but I think they're owned by the same people as Arrowhead, the bottle is the same).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Buy re-usable plastic or aluminum bottles, don't refill the deer park or aquafina or whatever ones!! That can make the chemicals from the bottle leak back into your water :/ BLECH!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My tap water is basically Poland Spring water so I don't buy bottled water.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The ideal is filtered/distilled water (although any water will do) in a metal bottle. And don't give me any crap about distilled water leaching the minerals out of your body. Water doesn't care how much stuff it has in it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've honestly never heard anything about distilled water leeching minerals...
