It's insane that people claim "kids are growing up too fast these days" when life expectancy used to be in the 30s. Kids USED to be married, with kids, and jobs because they might be dead if they followed modern day's 'schedule'. amirite?

I'm pretty sure the low death age is a result of the fact that so many poor kids were forced to work dangerous jobs and died (like in coal mines), average that into the age people normally die and it lowers the overall life expectancy CONSIDERABLY. That's why child labor laws exist now. Also, "kids" weren't married young. FEMALE kids were married young, and if I remember correctly the average age difference between a girl ans her husband was at least 15yrs. Shit was fucked up back then, in all sorts of ways. The fact that we've come far enough (at least in some countries) to actually be able to grant people the ability to have a real childhood is something you'd THINK they'd appreciate. Just saying.
