+260 "I would go through all this pain, Take a bullet straight through my brain, Yes, I would die for ya baby; But you won't do the same". It's interesting that Bruno Mars says "You won't", rather than "You wouldn't" or "Would you". Apparently he would die for this girl so much he wants to murder her.. amirite?

That took me a reading over.

I don't understand this. Maybe it's just because I'm sick. But "won't" means "Will not" so, he is grammatically correct. "But you will not do the same" makes sense, and doesn't mean he wants to murder her?...

Good point, and also the real lyrics are "You wouldn't do the same" But the way he says it sounds different.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You are incorrect, according to his official website. http://www.brunomars.com/music/grenade/ He does say 'wouldn't' at one point, but on average he says 'won't'.

"Would not" is speculation based on evidence, "will not" shows certainty, as if he wants to her to die for him, but she simply will not. See, you could say, "I would die to save you", and you'd be saying that if you had to you would. If you say "I will die to save you" you're saying it is going to happen regardless of happenstance, not that it might.

You, sir/ma'am, are mistaken.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

glad im not the only one who thinks this post makes no sense :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I explained it in a previous comment

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think OP is saying that "won't" seems more definite. Like someone is going to try to kill him, not talking about the possibility. I still don't understand how that connects to him murdering her though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well if he's tried to get her to take a bullet straight through the brain, which he must have if he knows she won't, it would only make sense that he'd be the one doing the killing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no hes saying if someone tried to shoot her he would jump in the way brain just rhymes with pain...so e used it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But see, that works for 'you wouldn't' But if he knows she 'won't', that means an instance has risen where that was put to the test, and it couldn't have been to save him or he wouldn't be alive to sing the song. You dig?

The only thing more annoying than a grammar nazi is a grammar nazi who doesn't realize what they're correcting was correct from the beginning.

Why did this get homepaged?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why are you commenting on it if you don't find it noteworthy?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I found the fact that the amirite population found this homepage-worthy noteworthy in its amount of complete fail.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How is it 'fail'? I made an observation about something very well known that had not yet been made to my knowledge.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You made an observation that makes no sense at all.
