That can be said about anything if you strip it down to just the basics. But eyelashes have become a symbol of attractiveness and beauty in addition to their purely practical duties. Ignoring connotations or cultural practices or modern symbols isn't deep; I personally think it shows ignorance which may or may not be present.

If anything, it's eyebrows that make no sense. Eyelashes actually have evolutionary purpose (I won't restate because it's mentioned above)

I've read how eyebrows help with sunlight, rain, and dust too they add to facial expressions too hello

oh yeah, they could deflect raindrops from your eyes and make it easier to see in the rain (if you tilt your head down a bit)
