+282 Papers shouldn't have a required length. When they do, 80% of what's in your paper is bullshit because you can state your point of view and back it up in a page or less, amirite?

Just change all the period and commas to a larger font. You'd be surprised about how much length that adds.

Most teachers make you write in a required font size to prevent exactly that.

That's the point. Say it has to be size 12 font; you just use the replace command to make all the periods and commas size 14. It's nearly unnoticeable if you aren't specifically looking for it.

That's the problem; I'm sure that teachers //are// looking for that. For a casual paper though, that's a pretty good idea.

I think teachers would be more looking at the words you typed instead of studying the punctuation..

Except something controversial. My teacher said six pages for a Constitutional issue and nobody's was below eight.

Yep, it's really tedious that they create these requirements. Maybe many people are good at dragging things out, but there also A LOT of people, who don't need that extra space. Everyone should be able to decide their length themselves. Every person has their own way of doing things and we should be able to preserve that.

If your entire point of view and evidence supporting that point of view is contained within a page or less, your paper deserves a failing grade.

Go ahead and write a 4 page paper on why you believe this. If it's less than 3 pages, I'm failing you.

Believe it or not there are topics that require more than one page to fully cover. You need to get experience in lengthier writing at some point.

I think teachers that give a required length have a good reason for it. Yes, you may be able to prove your point in a page or less, but the teacher may want 2 more pages of examples and details to support your thesis. No matter how well-written your paper is or how clearly you get your point across, you need to add some "bullshit" details and examples or maybe even repeat some ideas to have good paper.
