Gandalf would own Dumbledore, any day, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
yeah right, as if gandulf can drink horcrux poison and then make a massive firestorm
by Anonymous13 years ago
Mate, Gandalf could drink ten gallons of Horcrux poison and make a firestorm big enough to burn all the Inferi ever to exist.
by Anonymous13 years ago
which in lord of the rings land = zero
by Anonymous13 years ago
Doggy knows nothing, you can stfu, okay? Dumbledore is sweet. He runs a school where all sorts of crazy shit goes down. He has a bird that spontaneously combusts and a pretty sweet office. Oh and he dies helping to save the world. He's badass.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You shut your whore mouth, Albus Dumbledore is a saint.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But Gandalf is a BAMF.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Dumbledore's beard is cooler.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Sorry, Mithrandir is a pretty badass name too.
Dumbledore is nicer, but Gandalf is WAAAAY more of a bamf.
Read the comment from failbook. Pretty much sums it up.

... this whole thing was stolen from failbook.

..what?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I just can't choose. I think that "Deadliest Warrior" show should do an episode for Dumbledore vs. Gandalf.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thing is, Gandalf has an unfair advantage. In Middle Earth, wizards are a separate race from man, while in HP, the wizards are human. Dumbledore is fantastic, but he's owned because he has human limitations that don't hold Gandalf back.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't know my view on this because i love both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Honestly, I don't really see how the two compare. They are both vital characters in their own books. However, I like the LOTR books better but I think Dumbledore wins over Gandolf.
by Anonymous13 years ago
In the words of AVPS: "We don't prefer Gandolf, Merlin, or Oz"
by Anonymous13 years ago
To be fair, though, that's about Harry, not Dumbledore.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Gandalf is a boss. He kills a fucking fire demon and dies. Then he pulls a Jesus and comes back to life. Dumbledore dies and stays dead. Gandalf won't die even if you kill him
by Anonymous13 years ago
Lord of the Rings is my favorite <3
by Anonymous13 years ago
Gandalf has the power to come back to life... Dumbledore dies when he tries on his some ring. Probably his husband's. No contest here.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, he doesn't try on some ring then die.
See, Dumbledore, in the 6th book, tries to rid a Horcrux, and succeeds but gets cursed. He now has a blackened hand, and later in the book, when Harry & Dumbledore are going to one of Voldemort's secret areas, he drinks a VERY unhealthy liquid to save the world from one of the Horcruxes. He drinks some water to wash the taste, and the Inferi attack, but they manage to escape with Apparation.
Later, when the Dementors pass, they go inside Hogwarts and Dumbledore, in a PERFECT act if I may say, acts like Snape is about to kill him & he's scared, and although Snape DOES kill him, in the 7th book, Harry dies and Dumbledore, in the Limbo, FREAKING TALKS TO HARRY ABOUT HIMSELF.
Also, may I say, that Dumbledore admits his mistakes. You say macho = to be strong physically, I say macho = to be strong in every way combined-- physically, mentally, & emotionally. So you say Gandalf, I say Dumbledore. Simple as that!
by Anonymous13 years ago
No. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of all time.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I find it funny that Sir Ian McKellen played both of them.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Seeing as how Dumbledore is literally the Master of Death, I'm gonna say no on this one.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But he did die didn't he? Gandalf died, but unlike Dumbledore he defeated death and came back to life. Therefore, Gandalf's mastery of death is much greater than Dumbledore's.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Dumbledore wanted there to be no more masters of death because you had to kill to become one. He sacrificed himself.
by Anonymous13 years ago
As did Gandalf when he fell fending off the Balrog to allow the Fellowship to escape. The only difference is not only did he kill the enormous fire demon, he came back and helped purge Middle Earth of evil. Let it also be noted that Gandalf came back without the use of a horcrux. Dumbledore stayed dead, and is therefore not a master of death as you previously stated.

Amirite is filled with Harry Potter fans. The negative was expected. That said, I love both and I really can't choose.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Let's be realistic here guys. Gandalf clearly wins. I mean c'mon, you can't spell Dumbledore without dumb, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
No one would win, it would have been a battle that lasted eternity.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Until they both died.
And then one of them came back. :3
by Anonymous13 years ago
I cannot believe this is in the negatives. Dumbledore was a great character and all, but Gandalf could get shit done without worrying about overriding moral obligations, should they interfere with what needed to happen. Not to say he had no sense of humanity, he just knew when and where everything belonged.
by Anonymous13 years ago
After having read both of the series I have come to the conclusion that Gandalf is the superior wizard. I mean, Gandalf resurrects after he dies while when Dumbledore dies he stays that way. I love both characters, but there is no denying Gandalf his victory.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Plus, Gandalf whacks crazy stewards on the head.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Truthfully, I only NW'd this because I didn't want to have to choose. Apparently, there's a big problem with accepting that they are both BAMF in their own ways.
