Are you saying that there were no winners when we gained our freedom from the British during the revolutionary war?

1st, Lol, I'm English. 2nd, this is a famous expression, admittedly not my words. 3rd, what about the hundreds that died? Did they win? The revolutionary war left the east coast in tatters, hundreds dead and sowed the seeds for the factionalism that threatened the country almost a hundred years later. Sure the state of America won the war, but the people suffered as in all wars, in this case the cost was probably worth the outcome.
