Its weird to think about what our lives would be like if technology weren't invented, or watches for that matter.

I can't remember what story is it, but there's one about a family who never had mirrors and there's a cat and a dog who always got along and then one day, the father of the family brought home a mirror and the cat and dog realised they weren't alike and they fought and then the mother and daughters of the family started disliking themselves and almost went bankrupt by buying useless junk to try to make themselves more attractive. I feel like I'm rambling here. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Would the world be way more unsafe? Like, aside from the whole self image part if it, we use mirrors for other reasons like on cars to see our surroundings and stuff
