When someone is talking about Washington, they are talking about Washington STATE, NOT Washington D.C. If they WERE talking about washington D.C., the person would've added the "D.C." part in the first place, amirite?

Ugh I hate that. I live in WA and everyone assumes im from DC when I say I'm from Washington so I just say I'm from Seattle :p

No one cares about the state, so I'll continue saying just washington when I'm talking about DC. And I live closer to DC anyways so everyone knows what we mean by it

I live in D.C. Here, Washington means the Washington where the capital is and Washington state is the Washington north of Oregon.
